Marking 17 years of Security Council Resolution 1325

News

October 2017 marked 17 years since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

The Regional Women’s Lobby for South Eastern Europe (RWL SEE) considers that this resolution is a landmark achievement regarding the endeavors for women empowerment in decision making, peace and security processes worldwide. We call on international institutions and national governments to increase their efforts for better results in the practical implementation of this resolution and other consequent resolution. We consider that stronger political will and increased financial support can make implementation successful enabling to fully engage women in conflict resolution, peace-keeping and peace-building. Going beyond the words and papers is what the RWL SEE and all women in the world are asking for.

RWLSEE remains committed to advance the women’s empowerment for peace, justice and prosperity in the Western Balkans and beyond.
