On September 18 and 19, 2014, in Saranda, Albania, the Regional Women’s Lobby for Peace, Security and Justice in South East Europe (RWL SEE), organized an international conference, “On the Road to Empowering Women in Politics, Peace Processes and EU Integration.”

This conference’s objective is to establish a forum for women in politics and activists from across the region to discuss and agree on a set of recommendations on how to increase the role of women and inclusion of women’s perspective in regional peace processes, political agenda in Western Balkans, and European Integration processes, thereby also improving neighborly relations.

The conference aims to achieve this goal by: strengthening the collaboration of women politicians with women’s organizations at the national and regional level; supporting women, especially those who have influential positions in their communities, as agents of peace and reconciliation who can as such assist in bringing people together to support dialogues at different levels; and creating a dynamic, interactive and creative forum of women voices to mobilize support and engagement in a regional partnership with women and men political leaders.
