Press Release – SUPPORT FOR MOTHERS PROTESTING IN FRONT OF PRISTINA MORGUE
Press release
The Regional Women’s Lobby (RWL) for Peace, Security and Justice in SEE calls upon EULEX and the Kosovo Government to urgently respond to the hunger strike of the mothers holding a vigil in front of the Prishtina morgue. These mothers represent the families of the 400 bodies inside the morgue that are still awaiting identification.
The process of identifying these bodies and returning the remains to the families has gone on far too slowly. The RWL demands that EULEX renews its resources and commitment to seeing this process through to the end.
The hunger strike of these mothers has already significantly threatened their health and their lives and it is the responsibility of Kosovo’s national and international institutions to react immediately.
The RWL is composed of women politicians, experts and advocates from seven countries of Southeast Europe. More information is available at http://www.rwlsee.org.
