1st Roundtable – Dialogue between women Members of Parliament (MPs) from Kosovo and Serbia – Budva, Montenegro – 30 June 2011

To support a dialogue between women Members of Parliament (MPs) from Kosovo and Serbia, the Regional Women’s Lobby for South East Europe (RWLSEE) organized a Meeting on June 30th 2011 in Budva, Montenegro. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Edita Tahiri, Chair of the Regional Women’s Lobby who is also a Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo and the Head of Kosova Dialogue Team.
During the meeting 14 participants took place in discussion and outlined results and achievements on broad number of issues related to the European perspective of the region. Attendees included women Members of the Parliament from Kosovo and Serbia, RWL members; MPs, representatives of civil society, and Governmental Institutions. Participants shared information’s on political and security situation in Serbia and Kosovo and other countries thorough the region. The meeting also aimed to assist women politicians to contribute to ongoing technical dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade facilitated by EU mediation and, also enhances long term peace and security contribution of women to it. Participants agreed that there is a need of such meetings and increase on number of women from both sides. It also showed how contribution through debate and recommendations can be used to help speed up the integration of the Western Balkans countries into the European Union and Euro-Atlantic Community.
