The Regional Women’s Lobby, in cooperation with UNIFEM, announces its Conference “A Secure Future for Our Region: What Does It Take? Women Leader’s Speak Out.” The conference is to be held on October 27, 2008 in the Grand Hotel Pristina.

Guest speakers include esteemed members of the RWL; the President and Prime Minister of Kosovo; the Head of EULEX; representatives of the ICO, the Ministries of Defense and Internal Affairs; and others.

The conference is seizing the strategic moment of the eighth anniversary of the adoption of Security Council Resolution 1325 in October 2000 on Women, Peace and Security and will address gaps of women in decision-making in Kosovo, but also the wider Western Balkan region.

More specifically, the meeting objectives are to raise awareness of the political and security situation of the Western Balkans from a women’s perspective; to discuss security sector reform from a women’s perspective; and to further the role and contributions of women in government, politics and civil society of Western Balkans.
